The Concept
Tasmania has a reputation founded on world class food, wine and natural beauty. Indeed, the State has some wonderful hotels, restaurants, cafes and other, hard to categorise dining experiences for visitors and locals to discover and enjoy.
But not many people ever learn the story behind the menus; the farmers, the produce, the chef’s, the inspiration and, of course, the influence of the Island itself.
Tasmania’s Table will provide tourists and locals alike with a comprehensive guide to the highest quality Tasmanian food, drink and culinary life. And, recognising that our hospitality industry does include a large number of visiting workers, Tasmania’s Table will also serve as a window into the
provedore industry, enabling locals and industry professionals to shop where the State’s best and brightest source their produce.
Tasmania’s Table will be a hardcover book of 400 pages, utilising high standard imagery and modern design that communicates the quality of the State’s hospitality offering. Tasmania’s Table will include:
|
• Profiles of 50 of Tasmania’s best restaurants (click here to see a sample).
• Profiles of 50 of Tasmania’s best produce, products and producers (click here to see a sample).
• A Tasmanian Wine and Beer Guide, written by industry experts Willie Simpson and Michelle Round.
• A regional ‘Where to buy and taste’ regional provedore guide (click here to see a sample).
• Enticing stories about Tasmanian chefs and events such as Premier David Bartlett’s new initiative, Savour Tasmania. |
|
In addition to Tasmania’s Table, the book, this website will be progressively enhanced to function as a complementary product that will act as a resource for industry professionals looking to source ingredients, access professional development opportunties and keep abreast of developments in the State’s major tourism industry.
